Broadcasting Board of Governors

Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG; German Broadcasting Board ) is an independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, DC She is responsible for all international non-military radio and television programs of the government.

Task

The official mission of the BBG is to promote freedom and democracy in the world and maintain it. This will be implemented through the dissemination of accurate and objective news and information about the U.S. and the world to the international audience. History

In 1990 a start was made to merge the state broadcasting service of the United States, to enable closer cooperation. The United States Information Agency ( USIA ), which until then the Voice of America, Worldnet Television and Film Service, and Radio and TV Martí operation, these services merged in the Bureau of Broadcasting. The transmitters were technically supported by the Office of Engineering and Technical Operations.

In 1991 was established ( from 1996 Office of Affiliate Relations and Media Training) by the Bureau of Broadcasting, the Office of Affiliate Relations and Audience Analysis. Competitors

The former CEO Walter Isaacson looked at the channel Russia Today, Press TV, Telesur and CCTV as the main competitors of the BBG and described it in 2010 as "enemies ".
