The Broadway Bridge is a combined road and railway bridge that leads into New York City over the Harlem River. There runs the U.S. Route 9 ( U.S. 9 ) as Broadway and the subway line 1 from Manhattan to the Bronx.

The built in steel truss bridge was opened on 1 July 1962 the traffic. The construction costs were approximately $ 13.4 million. On the lower level there are four lanes for the road with a width of 10.36 m in total for both directions and two sidewalks, each 1.83 m wide. On the upper level run three tracks for the subway. The stop Marble Hill - 225th St is located directly at the bridge end.

The clearance under the bridge is at normal water level of 7.3 m. The main part of the bridge can be drawn on the two lateral towers of steel truss vertically upwards to a maximum vertical clearance of 41 m. The span of this main part is 92.6 m.

The New York City Department of Transportation, which is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the bridge, has counted a volume of traffic in both directions from an average of 33 266 vehicles per day in 2008.

The bridge is the only over the Harlem River that connects two parts of the Borough of Manhattan together. The district Marble Hill was formerly on the island of Manhattan, but by postponement of the riverbed, he was initially a private island, and later a part of the mainland. But the area remained in the district of Manhattan, so it's the only part on the mainland. The Broadway forms the border with the Bronx.
