Brocken-Hochharz

The administrative community Brocken- high resin in the district of Harz, in Saxony -Anhalt was formed on 1 January 2005 from the communities of the joint management of the Harz and the administrative community chunks, to do their administrative business., Originally consisting of ten municipalities, the county seat was in Hasselfelde.

On 1 July 2009, the village of Schierke were incorporated to Wernigerode and Altenbrak and Treseburg to Thale. With the departure of Schierke the eponymous chunk was no longer in the field of administrative matters. On January 1, 2010, all other communities except Allrode with Elbingerode ( Harz) fused to the city Upper am Brocken. Covering an area of ​​208.19 km ² last lived 7974 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2008). Last managing director was Wolf -Dietrich Rossek.

The coat of arms symbols are based on the previously used, approved coat of arms of the former management communities as well as the geographical and natural ellen conditions that are essential for both regions. These are the Brocken, the forest and the rivers and streams. These contents have been designed by the Magdeburg Kommunalheraldiker Jörg Mantzsch and admitted to the approval process.
