Brodmann area

Brodmann areas (BA ) are the after cyto - and myeloarchitecture banded fields cerebral cortex fields of man.

The classification of Brodmann areas goes back to the German neuroanatomist Korbinian Brodmann and psychiatrists, who divided the cerebral cortex in the original 52 fields. Meanwhile, the numbering was, however, still further subdivided, so meanwhile, for example, the Brodmann areas 23a respectively 23b exist.
