Brodsky Quartet

The Brodsky Quartet is an internationally renowned string quartet from the UK. The quartet was formed in 1972 by the founding members today still belong to Ian Belton and Jacqueline Thomas of Formation. In addition to outstanding by their interpretations in the field of European classical music, especially the classical repertoire for string quartets by Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bartók and Shostakovich, was the Brodsky Quartet through collaboration with leading protagonists from the rock and pop field as Björk, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney to a wider public. The Brodsky Quartet plays the strings on Björk's 'Family Tree' collection. Another special feature of the quartet is the fact that the members usually occur while standing, Jacqueline Thomas modified for this purpose her cello with an overly long tip and uses a small stool under her left foot so that they can rest the instrument on the bent knee. The musicians accompany their performances frequently humorous and informative announcements.

In May 1988, the Brodsky Quartet was awarded the " Royal Philharmonic Society Award " for his outstanding contributions to music.
