Brokstedt

Brokstedt is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. The municipality belongs to the district Rotensande.

Geography and transport

Brokstedt located 9 km northeast of Kellinghusenstraße. The rivers Brokstedter Au and sturgeon flow through the community. Brokstedt is located on the railway line from Elmshorn to Neumünster.

History

Detailed records of the history of the church has been around since about the 1700s. When a fire in 1752 the church almost completely destroyed, it was rebuilt at some distance.

Policy

Of the 17 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections 2008 twelve seats and voters Community AFW five.

Coat of arms

Economy

Through the village leads the developed in the 18th century road link between Bad Bramstedt and Rendsburg. The construction of the railway line Neumünster - Elmshorn in 1844, part of the first railway line between Altona and Schleswig-Holstein Kiel, the place underwent a noticeable economic upswing. Mainly the community is still dominated by agriculture.

Leisure, tourism and sport

Due to the location of Naturparkweg that connects the five natural parks in Schleswig -Holstein for hikers runs.

Nationally known is the site by the federal ring, the most famous speedway racing track in Schleswig -Holstein, which is operated by the MSC Brokstedt.

For more than 30 years, the largest Lanz Bulldog meeting in northern Germany takes place in 2007 in Brokstedt with over 25,000 visitors and 700 vehicles.

The Church in Brokstedt was built in 1899 by the Hamburg architect Hugo Groot Hoff.
