Bromadiolone a stereoisomeric mixture of a plurality of chemical compounds from the group of coumarin derivatives.

Properties

Bromadiolone is a white to pale yellow solid which is slightly soluble in water. The technical product is a mixture of two diastereomers with at least 97% purity.

Use

Bromadiolone is used as a rodenticide. It is an anti -coagulant of the second generation and is mainly used in municipal and agricultural rodent control as edible bait. Admission

As a biocidal product

Accordance with European legislation (Directive 98/8/EC concerning the placing of biocidal products ), and by order of 31 July 2009, a decision before the active ingredient bromadiolone in the appropriate list ( Annex I / IA of Directive 98/8/EC ) for product type 14 ( rodenticides ) record. The release of biocidal products containing the active substance bromadiolone is therefore in the EU ( Switzerland has adopted this provision ) will still be allowed. This exemption was subject to certain conditions:

  • The nominal concentration of the active substance in the products shall not exceed 50 mg / kg, and it may only use products are allowed. These products should not be used as tracking powder.
  • To reduce risk to humans, non-target animals and the environment are appropriate measures to implement. Thus the restriction to professional use only, setting a package size and the obligations to use tamper resistant and secured bait boxes.

As plant protection agents

Accordance with European legislation (Directive 91/414/EEC of 15 July 1991 concerning the placing of plant protection products ) and Decision of 8 December 2008, the EU Commission has decided not the active ingredient bromadiolone in Annex I to Directive 91/ 414 / EEC ( positive list of permitted substances in plant protection products ) record. The sale of plant protection products containing the active substance bromadiolone would not have been allowed from 2012. This decision was repealed by decision of 15 April 2011. The EU Member States may permit back under compliance with various statutory conditions and testing plant protection products containing the active ingredient bromadiolone.

In Switzerland, the active ingredient bromadiolone in Annex 1 ( approved drugs ) of the Plant Protection Ordinance is also listed.

In Switzerland and in Germany bromadiolone is included in preparations from rats. In Austria no pesticide is approved, containing the active substance.
