Bronkhorst

Bronkhorst is a small town of the municipality of Bronckhorst in the Dutch province of Gelderland.

The place is situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, about 15 km south of Zutphen. There is a car ferry to hum. The place is dominated by agriculture. Something tourism is present, there are some picturesque streets and farms, a little Charles Dickens Museum and built a chapel in 1344.

Bronkhorst, which has only a few hundred inhabitants, but may be called town and continues to Staverden, and Sint Anna ter Muiden Eembrugge the fourth smallest city in Holland. The place got its town charter in 1482, but never came to development. In the resort was from 1140 to about 1828, the castle of the Lords of Bronkhorst.

With the municipality reform of 1 January 2005, the municipality was Steenderen, had been one of the Bronkhorst until then, united, together with some neighboring communities to the new municipality Bronckhorst.
