Bronwyn Thompson

Bronwyn Lee Thompson ( Bronwyn Lee Thompson Chipperfield, born January 29, 1978 in Rockhampton ) is a former Australian athlete, who specializes in the long jump. She won at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in the long jump.

Thompson jumped first time in 1994 on the six- meter mark. After she was not nominated for the 1996 World Junior Championships, she finished her career and devoted himself to her training as a physical therapist.

In 2000, she returned to athletics and qualified for the Australian Olympic Team at the Olympic Games in Sydney. There she jumped 6.55 meters in the qualifying and missed the final. In 2001 she improved the Australian national record by Nicole Boegman 6.88 meters. On 7 March 2002 she jumped 7.00 meters in Melbourne with the valid Ozeanienrekord (2009). At the 2002 Commonwealth Games she won with 6.38 meters in sixth place with eleven centimeters behind the bronze medal. In 2003 she defended her Australian Championship title at the 2003 World Championships she won with 6.48 meters in seventh place. In the 2004 Olympics she managed a jump to 6.96 meters, with whom she reached the fourth place, eleven inches were missing for the gold medal, which went to the Russian Tatjana Lebedeva.

Shortly after the Olympics to Bronwyn Thompson badly injured knee. In 2006, she returned to the world-class, as she jumped three times over 6.90 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and won the title with 6.97 meters. From 2006 to 2008, she won three Australian titles in a row, but resigned in 2007 and 2008 at the international championships each in the qualifier.

According to the Australian outdoor season, she finished her career in 2009. At a height of 1.77 meters to her competition weight was 68 kilograms. Since 2006 she is married to Jason Chipperfield.
