Brookfield Asset Management

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. is a publicly traded Canadian asset management company with headquarters in Toronto. Brookfield invests for its clients through various funds mainly in so-called alternative assets, particularly in the real estate and infrastructure sector (transportation, renewable energy, etc ). Brookfield employs approximately 23,000 people and operates in twenty countries, including South America, Asia, Australia and Europe. The investments in the portfolio of the company amounted to around 150 billion Canadian dollars. The company is listed on the Canadian benchmark index S & P / TSX 60 and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange.

History

1899, the São Paulo Railway, Light and Power Company by William Mackenzie, Frederick Stark Pearson and other businessmen founded. Marie and the Algoma District of Ontario. In 1966, the Brazilian Traction, Light and Power Company Limited changes its name to Brazilian Light and Power Company Limited. In 1969 it was renamed the Brazilian Light and Power Company Limited to Brascan Limited (BL). In 1979, the Brazilian assets were at the Brazilian subsidiary, Eletropaulo and Light SA transferred. The company began with the expansion of investments in other business areas.

In 2005 the company was renamed Brookfield Asset Management ( BAM).
