Brookfield is a city in Waukesha County in the southeast of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2000, Brookfield had 38,649 inhabitants, an estimate in 2006 showed an increase in the population to 39 613.

The city is named after Waukesha the second largest in the same County, which is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The city was formed in 1954.

Geography

Brookfield is located at 43 ° 3'29 " north latitude and 88 ° 6'53 " west longitude and extends over 70.0 km ², spread to 69.6 km ² land and 0.4 km ² water surface. Brookfield is located on the watershed between the Fox River, which drains via the Illinois River and the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Michigan, whose water flows over the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River in the North Atlantic.
