Brooklyn Heights is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2000 1.558 inhabitants in the census year. The municipality is located west of the Cuyahoga River, and comprises 4.6 square kilometers.

History

By 1903 Brooklyn Heights belonged to the Brooklyn Township. Because of the high taxes in the township, the inhabitants of Brooklyn Heights, to start their own community. The village had become wealthy by growing vegetables and their greenhouse crops. Around 1885 Gustav Ruetenik had built with his sons here a first small glass house and was soon followed by a number of other greenhouses along today Schaaf Road.

The first town hall was built soon after independence as a community. Used prison cells were purchased from the city of Cleveland and were until 1960 in use. 1930 a new town hall was built, which was replaced in 1973 by the construction of a community center. This is home to this day, the fire station, police station and other community services.
