Broome Street

The Broome Street is an eastern - west running street in Lower Manhattan, New York City, USA.

Location and History

The road stretches across almost the entire width of the island - from the Hudson Street in the West Lewis Street to the east. The road is interrupted several times by parks and buildings. For the architecture along Broome Street, the use of cast iron is characteristic. It was heavily influenced by Griffith Thomas, who designed several buildings along the Broome Street - including the Gunther Building.

Middle of the 20th century, the Broome Street has been proposed as a road for the Lower Manhattan Expressway, which would have the road replaced by a 10 -lane urban highway, which would also be like all the buildings on the north side of the road to the victim.
