Brother Theodore

Brother Theodore, actually Theodore Gottlieb ( born November 11, 1906 in Dusseldorf, † April 5, 2001 in New York City ) was an American actor and comedian with German roots.

Biography

As a son of a good and influential home, Brother Theodore grew up very sheltered upbringing in Dusseldorf and studied in Cologne. The Gottlieb were then known publisher and good friend of the physicist Albert Einstein, who was in 1926 for three weeks to visit with the Gottlieb. In the 1930s, the happiness of the Jewish family was ended by the Nazi regime. Theodore was the only member of his family to Dachau. He fled with the help of Albert Einstein in the United States, where he as a janitor at Stanford University earning his livelihood and married soon. After seven years of poverty, he was abandoned by his wife, who took their son with them.

In the late 40s Theodore entered the first time in front of an audience and in the 50s he was already a well-known stand-up comedian. This was followed by roles in short films and TV series. In his latest movie "The ' Burbs " ( burbs ), he starred opposite Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher.
