Brotherhood of St. Mark

The Marx brothers was the first German fencing school, whose teaching consisted in organizing public fencing ideas. The German Emperor Frederick III. presented the " German masters of the sword " to Nuremberg on August 10, 1487 from the first Privilegiumsbrief. In Privilegiumsbrief is only of " masters of the sword " is mentioned, the proper name, as in the older master book of the Marx Brothers in the city archives Frankfurt (Main) is to be found, was " brotherhood of our dear women of the pure Virgin Mary and the Holy and violent Skylords Sanct Marx. " They were in competition with the spring fencers.

After 1614 no fencing schools of the Marx brothers were mentioned again.
