Brown County (Indiana)

Brown County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Nashville.

Geography

The County is located in south-central Indiana and has an area of 820 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Johnson County, Bartholomew County, Jackson County, Monroe County and Morgan County.

History

Brown County was formed on February 4, 1836 from parts of Bartholomew County, Jackson County and Monroe County. It was named after Jacob Brown, an American General in the War of 1812.
