The brown fruit pigeons ( Phapitreron ) are a genus of pigeons birds. The number of pigeons belonging to this genus is controversial. Some authors include only two species to the brown fruit pigeons. Others go from three or - as the IUCN - even four kinds of. All species occur exclusively in the Philippines.
Properties
The plumage of the brown fruit pigeons is mostly brown. Under the eye runs a striking color stripe. The neck shimmering metallic. It is in all types of tree-dwelling, predominantly single living pigeons, which are bound in their way of life to the forest. The structure of the digestive tract suggests a kinship with the green pigeons.
