Browser Helper Object

Browser Helper Objects ( BHO ) are programs that extend the capabilities of Internet Explorer. BHOs are used as of version 4 of Internet Explorer. You have direct access to the Document Object Model ( DOM).

Since they have full unrestricted access to all functions of Internet Explorer to create some malware own BHOs, of which a part is recording user behavior on the Internet and sends it to marketing companies. You can listen to all the traffic to the server ( including user and password).

BHOs are registered in the Windows registry under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \. For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ { 06849E9F - C8D7 - 4D59 - B87D - 784B7D6BE0B3 }

From the registry BHOs can be removed with the Regedit program. However, companies such as Adobe use these extensions, thus enabling the " Adobe Acrobat add-in " to represent the Internet Explorer, PDF files directly in the browser.
