Brtnice

Brtnice ( German Pirnitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic.

Geography

Brtnice located in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands, a creek Brtnice and on the connecting road between Jihlava and Třebíč.

History

1234 Brtnice was first mentioned in writing, as the market town Wenceslas I gave the Cistercian monastery of Porta Coeli. Six years later, it came in exchange for Svatoslav and the festivals Panov back into royal possession. 1410 came Brtnice to Count Waldstein, which includes the mighty castle Ruckenstein held.

Until the Thirty Years' War the town was one of the largest trade and craft places in the region.

1623 bought Rambold XIII. Collalto the rule Pirnitz for 110,000 dollars. Under the rule of the Counts of Collalto et San Salvatore found at the castle, the church and the convent multiple conversions under the direction of Giovanni Battista Pieroni instead. The counts Collalto that held the existing from the dominions Pirnitz, Czerna and German Rudoletz Familienfideikommiss to 1945, coined sustained the appearance of the city, whose marketplace come from homes of the Baroque and the Renaissance.

Until 1918 Brtnice belonged to Austria - Hungary. Since 2000 Brtnice is a city again. In Brtnice outweighs leather processing industry, next to the city is also a leisure center.
