Brtonigla

Brtonigla (Italian Verteneglio, German outdated Ortenegl ) is a municipality in Istria County, Croatia.

Population

According to the 2011 census, the municipality has Brtonigla 1,626 inhabitants, of whom 815 are male and 811 are female.

After ethnicity 44.8% of the residents of the community Croats, 30.1 % Italian, 2.4% Slovenes, 1.8% Serbs, 1.2% Bosniaks and 1.4% were other. 14.1 % of the inhabitants were called Istrian or gave to another regional affiliation and 2.0% gave this question a religion. For the remaining 2.0% of the ethnicity was not specified or was unknown. After citizenship were 94.2 % Croats (among whom 19.4% had dual citizenship ) and 5.8 % foreigners.

Used as a mother tongue, 56.0 % Serbo-Croatian, where among other 54.0 % referred to the language as Croatian, 0.7 % as Bosnian, Serbian and 0.6% compared with 0.6 % as Serbo-Croatian. 39.8 % from Italian as their native language, 2.3% Slovene and 1.3 % reported a different language. For the remaining 0.6 % of the population, the mother language was unknown. Official languages ​​of the municipality are Croatian and Italian.

After religions 85.7 % of residents Catholics, 3.1 % Muslim, 2.6% Orthodox and 0.3 % said they were a different religious affiliation. 4.1% were non-denominational or non-denominational free, with the remaining 4.3%, the religion was not stated or was unknown.
