Bruay-sur-l'Escaut
Bruay -sur- l'Escaut is a commune with 12,122 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nord, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It belongs to the district Valenciennes and Canton Anzin. The inhabitants are called Bruaysiennes.
Geography
Bruay -sur- l'Escaut is located in the Northern France coal field on the Scheldt (French: Escaut ). It is surrounded by the neighboring communities Raismes in the northwest and north, Escautpont in the Northeast, Saint- Saulve in the east and southeast, Valenciennes in the south, southwest and Beuvrages Anzin in the west.
History
In both world wars, the community learned large-scale destruction.
