Bruce Eakin

Bruce Eakin ( born September 28, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who was active during his career, including in the German Ice Hockey League and went aground for the Düsseldorf EC and the Kassel Huskies.

Career

Eakin began his playing career in 1980 at the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL, one of the three Canadian junior leagues. He was already selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1981 in the tenth round at 204th position of the Calgary Flames and played therefore also for the Oklahoma City Stars and the Colorado Flames, the farm team of Calgary. For the 1984/85 season he moved to the Detroit Red Wings and was therefore physically active for their farm team.

After Europe, he moved in 1987 to KalPa Kuopio in the Finnish SM- liiga, until he moved after a year to season 1988/89 to Germany to Neuss SC in the 2nd Bundesliga. His best season the second division he managed then in the next two years at the EHC Essen-West, for whom he scored 189 points scorer in 64 games. After another year in the second division for the EHC 80 Nürnberg, he moved to the 1992/93 season for Krefeld EV in the Hockey League.

At the founding of the German Ice Hockey League in the 1994/95 season he moved to Düsseldorf EC, but for which he played in two years, only 19 games in the league. For the season 1995/96 he moved finally to the Kassel Huskies, with whom he became German Vice Champion title in 1997. He was the team captain of the Huskies and saw for himself and the club the biggest success so far.

His career ended with the final 1998/99 season in the British Ice Hockey Super League for the London Knights.
