Bruce Penhall

Bruce Penhall ( born May 10, 1957 in Balboa, California, United States) is an American speedway rider who went to his racing career as a film and television actor to Hollywood following.

Career

Penhall in 1981 and 1982 Speedway World Individual Champion, secured in 1981 with compatriot Bobby Schwartz Speedway pair of World Cup and won the 1982 U.S. Speedway team, the Team Championship. In the British Speedway professional league Penhall launched from 1978 to 1982 exclusively for the team of Cradley Heath. He began his career in 1973 at age 16, took part in a 1976 organized by Barry Briggs Speedway World Tour, which made inter alia in Israel station. In 1977 he participated in the Open Championship of Australia and New Zealand in the winter. Penhall's first major international success in 1979 was winning the " Master of Speedway " - race series in Europe. In the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg in 1980, he played his first individual World Cup final, where he earned a 5th place.

Once filled with 92,500 spectators Wembley Stadium in London Penhall won in 1981 his first single Speedway World Championship titles and got after this triumph, even a congratulatory telegram from the then U.S. President Ronald Reagan. His world title could defend Penhall 1982 at the Coliseum in Los Angeles to announce his retirement from speedway racing after this new triumph.

Penhall is best known as an actor in the U.S. TV series " CHiPs ". But also in an episode of "Hotel" Penhall played with. 1999 Penhall was added to AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

Personal

Penhall started with 16 years of his speedway career, lost his parents at the age of 18 in a plane crash, went to the end of his speedway career in 1982 for the film, took part in the late 1980s and in the 1990s, also on speed boat and power boat races and committed itself as a promoter of speedway events in California.
