Bruce Wasserstein

Bruce Wasserstein ( born December 25, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York City; † October 14, 2009 in New York City ) was an American investment banker.

He was with Joseph R. Perella the founder of the U.S. investment bank Wasserstein Perella, which now operates as a subsidiary of Commerzbank AG under the name of Dresdner Kleinwort. The bank is sold until early 2010 to the financial investor RHJ. Since 2001 he was a leading member of the investment bank Lazard.

His sister was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein ( 1950-2006 ).

Wasserstein was admitted to hospital on 12 October 2009 due to heart rhythm disorders. After initially announced, his condition was " serious but stable and on the road to recovery ", his death came on 14 October 2009 for the public by surprise.
