Brujas FC
Brujas FC was a football club from Desamparados, Canton Desamparados, San José Province, Costa Rica, which Costa Rican in the highest league, the Primera División de Costa Rica played.
History
Beginnings (2004-2006)
In spring 2004, decided some businessmen, mostly of European descent, buying the club AD Guanacasteca to rename it in Brujas FC and in the Primera División de Costa Rica to pit to. Guanacasteca founded new the following year, so Brujas FC officially successor club of Guanacasteca is also, but in retrospect only acquired their Erstligafranchise.
First origin of the association was Escazú, "the city of witches", hence the name Brujas FC ( FC witches ). There, they denied their games in the ST Center Stadium. Since Brujas FC was not well received by the population in Escazú, Brujas moved to 2007, often the venue for its home games so denied Brujas its home games among other things, in the old Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.
Minor Vargas era (2006-2010)
2006, the businessman Minor Vargas rose which also in various other Costa Rican clubs active was / is at Brujas FC one. His goal was to establish Brujas in the top division and to call a large youth section to life. He also moved Brujas FC after Desamparados where Brujas since its home games at the Estadio Jorge discharges " Cuty " Monge.
2009 won Brujas FC in December for the first time the Costa Rican Championship and then took in the 2010/11 season at the CONCACAF Champions League.
On 23 November 2010 Minor Vargas resigned as club president, but he will continue to support the club on his sports marketing company Grupo ICONO.
Resolution ( 2011)
After Minor Vargas indicted in January 2011 in the U.S. for laundering of $ 670 million and in Costa Rica for tax evasion and, like all his company was insolvent, the Board of Brujas was a debacle, as all issues of the association almost exclusively by companies Vargas ' were worn or made by it.
So still left end of January many players the club because the club would otherwise not have survived due to the many salaries to be paid the remainder of the season until mid-May. Brujas occurred in Verano 2011 with a young team, most of them from out of the U- 19 is disengaged players. The team failed just short of qualifying for the playoffs. The home game against the UCR was Brujas reasons of cost from the public.
In mid-March, all attempts to rescue the club were set. For the first April left out for financial reasons all employees, including sporting and administrative leadership, the club. Rolando Vargas, son of businessman Minor Vargas, then led negotiations with several interested parties at the Erstligafranchise.
On 8 April 2011 it was announced at a press conference, the administration of the franchise, initially for five years to Juan Luis Hernández and his club Orión FC (2010/ 11 in the third league play ) is sold. Orión FC assumes all sporting facilities Brujas and will host its home games at the Estadio Cuty Monge.
