Brun-Otto Bryde

Brun -Otto Bryde ( born January 12, 1943 in Hamburg ) is a German jurist. He was on January 23, 2001 to February 2, 2011 Judge of the Federal Constitutional Court.

Life

After studying at the University of Hamburg ( 1 State Exam 1966) and clerkship and the taking of the second legal state exam in 1969 in Hamburg Bryde received his doctorate in 1971 with a thesis on central economic policy advisory bodies in parliamentary constitutional order in Herbert Kruger at the University of Hamburg. After working a lecturer at the Law School in Addis Ababa, Law and Modernization Fellow at Yale Law School in New Haven Bryde was 1974-1982 Researcher Senior Researcher at the University of Hamburg.

In 1980, the Habilitation Bryde's done with a supervised by Ingo von Münch work on constitutional development - stability and dynamics in the constitutional law of the Federal Republic of Germany.

From 1982 to 1987 Bryde was Professor of Public Law at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich; in 1987, he accepted an appointment as professor of public law and science of politics at the Justus -Liebig- University of Giessen. Research areas of the legal scholar Bryde are constitutional law, comparative constitutional and comparative government, international law, and here in particular human rights law and sociology. From 1992 to 1998 he was the chairman of the Association for the Sociology of Law. He was a member from 1992 to 1993 at the Constitutional Advisory Board of Hesse and 1997 to 1999, the Enquete Commission " parliamentary reform " of the Hesse Landtag. Bryde was 2000/2001 Member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. He is co-editor of the journal " constitution and law overseas ."

From 23 January 2001 to February 2, 2011 Bryde was the first Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court, on the recommendation of Alliance 90/The Greens, until he retired on reaching the maximum age limit of 68 years from the service.
