Brunello Rondi

Brunello Rondi (* November 26, 1924 in Tirano, Sondrio Province, Lombardy, † November 7, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director who was known in particular for his work for Roberto Rossellini and Federico Fellini and amongst other things, two times for an Oscar nominee.

Life

Rondi began his career in the film industry as a screenwriter with the film Ultimo Amore (1947 ), directed by Luigi Chiarini a film drama with Clara Calamai, Andrea Checchi and Carlo Ninchi. He wrote the screenplays to 1988 and a template for thirty films and was partially involved in these productions as an assistant director and art director.

In 1961, he was with Federico Fellini, Ennio Flaiano, Tullio Pinelli assigned to it by the Professional Association of Italian Film Journalists SNGCI ( Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani ) Film Award Nastro d' Argento nomination, in the category " Best Screenplay " for The Sweet Life (La dolce vita, 1960) by Federico Fellinimit Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimée, Yvonne Furneaux, Anita Ekberg and Alain Cuny. For this film he had, Fellini, Pinelli Flaiano and nominated at the Academy Awards in 1962 for an Oscar for best original screenplay.

At the beginning of the 1960s, Rondi also began his work as a film director and received at the International Film Festival in Venice in 1963 for the horror film Il demonio (1963 ) with Daliah Lavi, Frank Wolff and Anna María Aveta a nomination for best first film. As a director, he directed until 1982, a total of thirteen films.

In 1964 he was awarded, together with Federico Fellini, Ennio Flaiano, Tullio Pinelli, the Nastro d'Argento for best screenplay for the resulting directed by Fellini film Eight and a half ( 8 ½ or Otto e mezzo, 1963), in addition to the Marcello Mastroianni Claudia Cardinale and Anouk Aimée participated. For this purpose, Fellini, Flaiano, Pinelli and Rondi 1964 were again nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay.

Rondi, of the neorealist film festival the Laceno d'Oro won in 1966 for the best film, was a younger brother of Gian Luigi Rondi film critic.
