Brunnen

Fountain is a locality of the political community Ingenbohl and is located on Lake Lucerne in the district of Schwyz in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland.

History

Between the mouth of the Leewassers in Lake Lucerne and the slope of Ingenbohl forest arose the bank settlement fountain in the High Middle Ages. Fishermen and sailors lived in the small village which has been of increasing importance to the Gotthard route to the port of the country Schwyz and place of loading for the important cattle trade with the Ticino and Italy. Coat of arms

Holcim

A very important employer was the cement plant of the world's second largest cement group Holcim, who also operates a quarry in the community part Unterschönenbuch. In January 2008, Holcim announced the closure of the cement factory. The site Unterschönenbuch should continue to operate, but the quarry lost its largest customer. The fallow area, which was acquired by the Schwyzer Kantonalbank is overbuilt in several stages over a period of 15 years with a residential, office, retail and leisure district called Nova fountain.
