While Bettinelli first anknüpfte in his works to the work of Paul Hindemith - this shows up in strict, mainly contrapuntal scale compositions such as due INVENZIONI (1939 ) or even Fantasia e fuga su temi Gregorian (1942 ) - to appear in his later works, although he has always adopted towards the progressive currents of contemporary music a detached attitude, atonal influences, and finally the use dodecaphonic series (but of definite and binding rules exempt ). Characteristic of his musical language are also the energetic rhythm and contrapuntal writing. The continuous interest in avant-garde experiments mediated his music undeniably a tonal and harmonic modernity as well as a continuous extension of the musical material.
