Bruno Cirillo

Bruno Cirillo ( born March 21, 1977 in Castellammare di Stabia ) is an Italian football player. He currently plays for Alki Larnaca in the Cypriot first division.

Club career

Bruno Cirillo began his professional career at Reggina Calcio. In order to gain match practice, he was awarded from 1996 to 1998 to the fourth division AS Tricase. When he returned to Reggina after these two years back, he established himself at once as a regular player at second division. At the end of the 1998/99 season Cirillo then won promotion to the Serie A with his team. In Regginas Club history this was the first promotion to the top flight at all. Also in the first division could hold and reached at the end of the season the 12th place in the table. The young defender Cirillo always knew this to convince with good performances and so attracted the interest of other clubs up. For the following season, he was then obliged by top club Inter Milan. Under coach Marco Tardelli he played here in defense a season along with world stars such as Laurent Blanc and Iván Córdoba. Also first international experience gained in 2000/ 01 Bruno Cirillo in the UEFA Cup. Here he failed with Inter on eventual finalists Deportivo Alavés.

In 2001 he moved to the U.S. Lecce relegated to with this team a year later, immediately ascend back to the first division. Later Cirillo went on loan again to his youth club Reggina Calcio and AC Siena to. For the 2005/06 season the Italians then went to the Greek top club AEK Athens. There he was with his team in two seasons runners-up behind Olympiakos Piraeus and played 2006/ 07 in the group stage of the Champions League. In summer 2007, Cirillo announced his move to Spanish side Levante UD. Due to financial difficulties at Levante, he returned already in the winter break of his first season again to Reggina Calcio back, initially on loan, then after the season final. The descent Regginas to Serie B in 2009, but even he could not prevent. After the season, the defender moved again to Greece, where he has since been working at PAOK Thessaloniki.

National

In the years 1999 and 2000, Bruno Cirillo belonged to U -21 national team because of its good services to the Italian. With this team in 2000 he was Under-21 European Football Championships. The team consisted of example, Gennaro Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo. Also at the Summer Olympic Games in 2000 the defender Cirillo belonged to the squad.
