Bruno Guttowski

Bruno Guttowski ( born November 8, 1924 in Rastenburg, † 1976) was a German ice hockey player and coach.

Life

The defender played for the Krefeld EV ( CRF). In the season 1951/52, the KEV reached number one thing in common with the SC Riessersee. The playoff for the German Championship won the Krefeld in Mannheim Friedrich Park Stadium 6-4. The following year, Guttowski was the third KEV and 1953/54 and 1954/55 runners-up.

Then Guttowski went to the Mannheimer ERC ( MERC ). Because of the change, he was initially not allowed to play. He served 1955/56, as a coach and managed with the team promotion to the Oberliga. There he played until 1964 with the MERC. He was captain and 1959-1961 also player-manager. The best places that he reached with the Mannheim School, were two third places in the seasons 1958/59, where he was also the second best defender in the Bundesliga, and 1962 /63. Overall, he scored 71 goals for Mannheim. After the end of his playing career, he was from 1969 to 1972 Coach of the MERC.

In the German national Guttowski was called 58 times, where he met five times the gate. He took part in the World Cup in 1953, where the German team in Switzerland vice world champion in 1954, 1955 and 1959. Moreover, he was at the 1956 Olympic Games there when Germany finished sixth in Cortina d' Ampezzo.

Because of his services to the German Hockey he was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" of the German Ice Hockey Museum. 2012 honored him the Adler Mannheim, successor to the MERC by locked his shirt number and his jersey was hung with the number 12 symbolically under the hall roof the SAP Arena.
