Bruno Mondi

Bruno Mondi ( born September 30, 1903 in Schwetz, Prussia, † July 18, 1991 in Berlin) was a German cinematographer.

Life

Bruno Mondi graduated in 1918 training at the School of Cinema and at the Technical School of Photography in Berlin. Soon after, he was employed as a camera assistant and subordinate cameraman on numerous silent film productions, including 1921 when The tired death.

From 1925 he worked as co- cinematographer with Heinrich Gärtner, and in the film comedy The great Lola in 1927, he served first as solely responsible chief cameraman. First Mondi cooperated mainly with the director Richard Eichberg, from 1935 he was appointed permanent staff Veit Harlan.

In addition to numerous film comedies and filmed entertainment Mondi was shooting for Harlan some propaganda films, including the anti-Semitic Jud Suss production. Despite the participation of renowned expert Mondi has already been taken in 1946 by the DEFA as one of their chief cameramen under contract. In this role, he turned, among other things in 1950 the first DEFA color film The Cold Heart.

In the fifties he moved to the West German and Austrian film. Here he was responsible mainly for the recordings of several colorful productions Ernst Marischka, especially the popular trilogy Sissi. Most recently, he worked for television, where he recorded the series Förster Horn with Heinz Engelmann. His son Georg Mondi ( b. 1936 ) was also cameraman.
