Bruno Visintin

Bruno Visintin ( born November 23, 1932 in La Spezia ) is an Italian former middleweight boxer.

Amateur

As an amateur visitin was in 1951 in Milan European Champion in the lightweight and won in the same year, the Mediterranean Games. In 1952 he won at the Olympic Games in Helsinki the bronze medal in the light welterweight, he lost in the semifinals against the Americans Charles Adkins.

Professional

In 1952, he started his professional career with a series of 17 victories. He suffered his first defeat in the fight for the European title at lightweight against his compatriot Duilio Loi in May 1954., He was then the end of 1955 Italian lightweight champion, put the title but after only a defense down to fight at welterweight. Also in this weight class he was national champion in 1958.

In February 1960 he was Duilio Loi over again. Again, it went to the European Championships, won again Loi on points. Visintin then moved to the light middleweight. There he was again in March 1963 by Italian masters, and in May 1964, also at the third attempt European champions. This title he defended successfully five times, including in December 1965 against the Germans, Peter Müller, whom he defeated on points. The sixth attempt to defend the European title was his last fight. New Year's Day 1966, he lost to Bo Högberg from Sweden by technical knockout in the seventh round.
