Brunswick Land

The Brunswick Country is a region in Southeast Lower Saxony in the Harz mountains. It is about the core of the old Duchy of Brunswick or the Free State of Brunswick, even more, it covers the existing 1946 to 1978, former County Brunswick. The Brunswick Country is approximately the cities of Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Salzgitter and the districts of Peine, Goslar, Wolfenbüttel and Helmstedt. Eliminated include the 1941 is exchanged for city and county district Goslar Minden wood and the space around Calvörde and the space around Blankenburg, the latter two are now part of the new federal state of Saxony- Anhalt. The earlier the district Braunschweig belonging Thedinghausen now belongs to the district of Verden. Braunschweigische Landessparkasse can still recognize the area of the old Brunswick country.

Regional Association

The association has Braunschweigische landscape eV set itself the goal to maintain the identity of the Brunswick country and the solidarity of the population with the story, even after the establishment of the State of Lower Saxony. It uses as its logo a silhouette of Saxony Rosses.

Say

Rich in tradition, the legends about Till Eulenspiegel, a typical figure of the area ( Kneitlingen ) or the Henry saga of Henry the Lion. Then there is also the legend of the Mumme braunschweiger a type of beer, but also that which revolves around the naming and the founding of the city by bruno African brothers Bruno and Dankward. Also from the Elm and the resin, which belong to the Braunschweiger Land, there are numerous myths and legends.
