Brunswick is a town in Columbus County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The city had a total of 360 inhabitants at the last census in 2000.

Geography

The city is centrally located in Columbus County and is adjacent to the south on the town of Whiteville. The Columbus County Municipal Airport is located approximately one kilometer south of the city. Brunswick has an area of 1.1 km ², all land.

Demographics

According to the census of the United States Census Bureau of 2000, there were in the town of 360 inhabitants in 144 households, including 101 families. The population density was 331 persons per km ². Ethnically the population were under 55 % African American, 42 % White and 3 % Native American.

Of the 144 households, 27% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 40 % were married couples living together. 26% were single mothers, 29% were non-families. 26% of all households were single-person households and 10 % lived in people older than 65 years. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.02.

24% of the population were under 18 years old, 11 % 18-24, 22 % between 25 and 44, 24 % between 45 and 64 and 20 % were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 73 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 73 men came.

The median income for a household was $ 15,795, and the median income for a family amounted to $ 22,361. Males had a median income of $ 22,361, women $ 20,625.
