Bruny Surin

Bruny Surin ( born July 12, 1967 in Cap- Haïtien, Haiti) is a former Canadian track and field athlete and Olympic champion.

In 1975, his Surin with his family to Canada, where he has lived ever since. Initially, he trained in the discipline long jump and moved later to the 100 -meter run. He had in 1987 at the Pan American Games, where he reached the 15th place in the long jump his first international appearance. At the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul in 1988, he also reached number 15 in the long jump.

At the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand, he won the bronze medal in the 100 -meter run behind the Englishman Linford Christie (Gold ) and the Nigerian Davidson Ezinwa (Silver ) and reached seventh place in the long jump. At the 1991 World Championships he finished eighth in the 100 meters. At the 1995 World Championships, he won the 100m silver medal and team gold medal in the 100 - meter relay.
