Brwinów

Brwinów is a town in Poland, in the Masovian Voivodeship with about 11,800 inhabitants. The city is also the seat of the urban and rural community.

Geographical location

The village is located about 20 kilometers southwest from the center of Warsaw.

History

The first documentary mention of the place as Brwinowo dates from the year 1406. 1423 mentions a parish, which is one of the oldest of Mazovia. The associated church is dedicated to Saint Florian ( Sw. Florian). Beginning of the 18th century it was the place the municipal law, but lost it again in 1831 already. On June 14, 1845, first time a train ran on the route Warsaw - Vienna. 1910, the volunteer fire department was founded by Brwinów. 1927 to 1937, the wooden church was replaced by a brick. On 1 September 1939 the city was bombed by the German Luftwaffe. On September 12, 1939, in the city to a battle between the Wehrmacht and the 36th Grenadier Regiment. On 17 January 1945 the occupation was ended by the Germans. 1950 was the place the municipal law.

From 1975 to 1998, the village belonged to the Province of Warsaw.

Traffic
