Bryales
Bryum Bryum argenteum and capillare on a mural crown.
The Bryales are an order of mosses, which is very diverse. They are also phylogenetically very old.
Features
The Bryales are akrokarpe mosses. With the exception of Pulchrinodaceae no Pseudoparaphyllien occur. The lamina cells of the leaflets are elongated ( prosenchymatisch ) and smooth. The midrib is simple and usually from Bryum or Mnium type. The peristome is of the Bryum - type. Between each segment are Endostom one to five lashes. Sometimes the peristome is reduced, rarely completely absent.
System
The Bryales are a very old group. From Russia are known fossils from the Permian. There are also a number of extinct genera with the Bryales in their leaf structure ( rib, cell network and lined leaf edge ) are very similar.
The Bryales include the following families:
- Family Bryaceae
- Family Leptostomataceae
- Family Mniaceae
- Family Phyllodrepaniaceae
- Family Pseudoditrichaceae
- Family Pulchrinodaceae
The order in this description is monophyletic and is based on molecular genetic data.
