Bryan Bayda

Bryan Joseph Bayda, C.Ss.R. ( born August 21, 1961 in Saskatoon, Canada ) is the reigning Bishop of Saskatoon for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Canada.

Life

Bryan Joseph Bayda was born the third of six children, his parents were Joseph and Florence Bayda. The boy loved music and sports, in the summer time he spent his holidays on a farm in Aberdeen. Bayda visited in Saskatoon elementary school and studied from 1975 to 1979 at St. Vladimir College in Roblin. From 1979 to 1982 he was a seminarian and novice to the Redemptorists in Toronto and studied at Saint Michael College philosophy, with a bachelor's degree. At the conclusion of his novices time he lived in Oconomowoc (Wisconsin, USA) and placed on July 31, 1983 his first religious profession. At Saint Michael's Colleg he began in 1983 with a postgraduate degree, on 13 September 1986, he took off his great vows. In 1987 he completed his studies with a Master of Theology. On May 30, 1987 Bayda was ordained a Redemptorist religious priests by Bishop Basil Filevich (Saskatoon ).

Chaplains

Father Bayda was from 1987 to 1990 at St. Vladimir Kaplan College in Roblin and studied in parallel at the University of Manitoba Education. This He finished his studies with the degree Bachelor. In 1990 he received the call to the Vladimir college and was from 1993 to 1994 director of this college. In 1994 he took over the management of the establishment of the Order of Redemptorists in Toronto as Abbot and Director of Administration. In 1997 he was co- pastor at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Saskatoon.

Bishop

On 2 May 2008, Father Bayda of Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Saskatoon and on 27 June 2008 by Archbishop Lawrence Huculak, OSBM Daniel (Winnipeg ) and the co-consecrators Bishop Michael Wiwchar CSsR ( his predecessor ) and Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski (New Westminster) ordained a bishop. His motto is: " You will be my witnesses. " ( Acts 1:8 EU)
