Bryn Meredith

Victor Brinley " Bryn " Meredith ( born November 21, 1930 in Cwmbran, Torfaen ) is a Welsh rugby union player. He played as a hooker for the Welsh national team and the British and Irish Lions.

Meredith went to the West Mon School in Pontypool and played for the Welsh 'school after the Second World War. His first experience in club rugby, he gained the Devonport Services RFC. In 1951 he came to Newport RFC, for which he for 14 years, with a break of one year, was playing. From 1956 to 1957 he played for the London Welsh, as he worked as a teacher in London.

His first international match played Meredith in 1954 against Ireland. He missed in his eight years as national team only two games. The total of 34 games played for Wales were at the time a record for a striker. In 1955 he was first considered for a tour of the Lions and came in all test matches against the Springboks used. Four years later in New Zealand, he was substitute for the captain Ronnie Dawson. In 1962 he was again a regular player, when the Lions traveled to South Africa.
