Brzánky
Brzánky ( German Bresanken ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers northeast of Roudnice in the Elbe valley and belongs to Okres Litoměřice.
Geography
The village is situated on the southern slopes of the rechtselbisch 278 m high conical mountain Sovice ( Sowitz ). Neighboring towns are Vetla in the north, and Mastířovice Kochovice in the northeast, Záluží in the east, Kozlovice in the south, Kyskovice the southwest, Černěves in the west and Chodouny in the northwest.
History
Brzánky was first mentioned in 1338 as a possession of the monastery of the Virgin Mary in Roudnice. At that time there were in the village of a monastic vineyard and orchards. Acquired in 1577 by Wilhelm von Rosenberg, the village, and later it was owned by the Lobkowicz family. The village's name comes from Brzo ( early ) and refers to the favorable through the south-facing slope vegetation conditions.
