Bucas Grande

Bucas Grande is an island in the east of the Philippines, which is part of the Philippine province of Surigao del Norte and is located in the Philippine Sea. The island has 20,304 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 14 barangays. The entire island belongs to the administrative territory of the commune Socorro.

The area of ​​Bucas Grande is 124.45 km ². The kidney-shaped island is hilly with small slopes and consists mostly of limestones, basalts in the center and from young alluvial soils along the coasts with sandy beaches and mangrove forests. Inland, a rain forest and in the northern part of the island dwarf forest grows. It is one of the smaller island archipelago of the Siargao Islands, located off the northern coast of the main island of Mindanao.
