Buchberg SH

Book Berg is a municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland.

Geography

Book Mountain is located opposite the mouth of the river Töss into the Rhine, on the southern slope of the Hurbigs. Together with Rüdlingen book forms an exclave of the mountain canton Schaffhausen, which is entirely surrounded by the Canton of Zurich and the German state of Baden -Württemberg. The two communities form the southern part of the canton.

History

In 1123 a Leuthold of White Castle gave the book villages and mountain Rüdlingen the Rheinau monastery. During the next four hundred years, the church taxes had to be brought to Rheinau. In 1520 was bought by the town of Schaffhausen first the lower, then the upper 1657 Bailiwick of Rheinau monastery. For these reasons, book mountain still belongs to the canton of Schaffhausen. Until the beginning of the 19th century book mountain and Rüdlingen together formed a community that originated the two political communities book mountain and Rüdlingen from the after partition in 1839. In the 20th century Book Mountain has grown from a small agricultural town into a residential community with vines.

Coat of arms

Blazon

The first time the coat of arms in 1597 appears to be typical canting arms; a green book on green Dreienberg on yellow background. Inexplicably book mountain bears in the 19th century crest of a three-leaf clover. As the origin of this coat of arms was completely in the dark, chose the Municipal Assembly 1949, the original coat of arms, but with a different label color.
