Bucine
Bucine (pronounced [' bu: tʃine ] ) is a town with 10,128 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Arezzo, Tuscany region of Italy. The city is a member of Cittaslow, a company incorporated in Italy in 1999 motion to decelerate and increase the quality of life in cities.
Geography
The site covers about 131 km ². It is located about 20 km west of Arezzo and 45 km southeast of Florence in the Chianti Aretini in Valdambra and the Ambra. Its neighborhoods include Ambergris, Badia Agnano, Badia a roti, Capannole, Castiglione Alberti, Cennina, Duddova, Galatrona, Gavignano, I Tribbi, La Villa, levans, Lupinari, Mercatale Valdarno, Montaltuzzo, Montebenichi, Perelli, Pietra Viva, Pogi, Ponticelli, Rapale, San Leolino, San Martino in Valdambra, San Pancrazio, Sogna, Solata, Tontenano, Torre and Vepri.
The neighboring municipalities are Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), Civitella in Val di Chiana, Gaiole in Chianti ( SI), Monte San Savino, Montevarchi, Pergine Valdarno and Rapolano Terme (SI).
History
In the 13th century Bucine fell into the possession of the counts Guidi di Modigliana. Since 1208, the town was united together with the castles Pogi, Torre S. Reparata, Galatrona, Caposelvi and Rendola in Statuto della Val d' Ambra, which in 1225 went under the protection of Arezzo and his viscount Orlando degli Albergotti. After the expansion of the Florentine Republic fell in 1335 Bucine in their sphere of influence.
