Broadcast

The pilot for the series was first listed in March 1979 in U.S. cinemas, because just in the USA, a science-fiction boom, triggered by the first Star Wars movie Star Wars prevailed. The film adaptation of Battlestar Galactica - pilot (also a Larson - production ) was also very successful in theaters. The series itself went on U.S. television from September 1979 to shipment. However, as with Battlestar Galactica the ratings went back in time, so that in two series between the scales of the design was revised. Only in the spring of 1981 began with the airing of the second season. Again, the rates remained below expectations, so that the series was taken after only eight episodes from the program.

Also in Germany, the pilot film was first brought to the West German cinemas in July 1979 and was repeated several times in the ARD and the third programs from 1982. The then young private Sat.1 began on 25 May 1985 with the broadcast of the first 13 episodes of the first season, which were repeated in 1986 there. From 3 June 1989, the German private broadcasters RTLplus showed the complete series, which was repeated in 1990 and 1991. Since 2000, the series was shown on several occasions at various pay-TV programs.
