Buckfastleigh

Buckfastleigh is a municipality in the district of Teignbridge in the county of Devon, England, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The town for his in the early 20th century is known in the Norman and early Gothic style, rebuilt Buckfast Abbey, as the starting point of the South Devon Railway, a butterfly farm and otter sanctuary.

History

The economic importance of the site was based on the grain, paper and woolen mills, the drive- especially the River Dart with its hydropower. The medieval origins can still be seen on the street floor plan; but most of the buildings date from the 18th to 20th centuries.
