Buckingham Fountain

The Buckingham Fountain (English Buckingham Fountain, officially Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain ) is a fountain in Grant Park the U.S. city of Chicago.

It was designed by Edward H. Bennet and adorned with sculptures by Jacques Lambert. As an example of the Latone Fountain served from the gardens of the Château de Versailles. The name pays tribute to Kate Buckingham, who donated one million dollars for the construction of the well and dedicated it to the citizens of Chicago. It was inaugurated on 26 August 1927. According to its location not far from the shore of the lake the main basin of the fountain represents Lake Michigan, including four arranged around the fountain sculpture sets with seahorse bronze Art Deco style, which symbolize the four adjacent to the lake states. The fountain is open from mid April to mid October from 8:00 bis 22:00 clock in operation. It contains about 5.7 million liters of water, about 800 permanently installed lights and is one of the largest fountains in the world. Buckingham fountain marked the eastern terminus of the legendary Route 66
