History

After the invasion of East Timor by the Indonesians in 1975 fled to the mountain people of Bucoli Lame, where they met with refugees from Vemasse and Karabela. In the middle of March 1976, the Indonesians attacked the refugee camp with rocket-propelled grenades and mortars and destroyed both the cabins and the food warehouse. The inhabitants fled along the Rio Vemasse eight kilometers further south, to Uaigae where they docked gardens for self catering. But when the fighting got closer, they had to flee again, until they finally (today Suco Bibileo ), 20 km south of Vemasse, in the protection of FRETILIN, again found refuge in Uai - Mori. Here was a base de apoio, a resistance base. Together with refugees from Dili, Viqueque and other parts of the country they lived here for two years. By the time it came more and more to the food shortages, as more people arrived. 1978, Uai - Mori was attacked by Indonesian armed forces. Most of the inhabitants fled, some were captured by the Indonesians and taken to the transit camp of Bucoli.
