Bud Cort

Bud Cort ( born Walter Edward Cox, born March 29, 1948 in New Rochelle, New York ) is an American actor.

Life

Cort was born as the son of bandleader and pianist Joseph Parker Cox and the journalist Alma Mary Court and grew up with three sisters and a brother in Rye, New York, on. In 1966, he joined the Catholic Iona Preparatory School from New Rochelle.

In 1967 he began to study design at New York University, which he broke off in 1969 to become an actor. He studied with Stella Adler, played in commercials and worked as a stand- up comedian in New York City. In 1969 he played in Stuart Hagmanns film The Strawberry Statement which addressed the American student revolts of 1968 and was awarded the Jury Prize at Cannes. In 1969, he starred in Sweet Charity, a film based on the eponymous musical. In New York City he was discovered by Robert Altman, who in 1970 gave him roles in films MASH and Brewster McCloud.

In 1971 he landed the lead role of the suicide -obsessed Harold in the movie Harold and Maude. The film was a box office flop at first, but later reached international cult status. Bud Cort was honored for this role with the Golden Globe for Best Actor. Among other things, his role of Billy Bibbit was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest offered, but he refused to be not set to representations mentally Disturbed.
