Bud Somerville

Raymond " Bud " Somerville ( born January 27, 1937 in Superior, Wisconsin) is an American curler.

His international debut was at the Somerville predecessor of the World Cup, the Scotch Cup 1965 in Perth, where he won the gold medal.

Somerville played as a third of the U.S. team at the XV. Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 and as skip at the XVI. 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano in curling. The team finished in fifth place in 1988 and 1992 the team won the Olympic bronze medal after a 9-2 victory in the match for third place against Canada to skip Kevin Martin. Since curling was still a demonstration sport has the medal no official status.

The Curling World Championships 1995 he had his last international appearance. In the team of his son Tim, he finished fourth as Alternate.

1984 Raymond Somerville was appointed as the first in the United States Curling Hall of Fame.
